Hi I am Lynn Cooley I would think that am what you would call an armature Astronomer. I would with plenty of notification consider a presentation on parts of astronomy that I am more up to date with. By profession I work on computers. Please talk to me more about this so that we may come to some common ground and then mayby we can work something out. As I live here in Orem not fare from the University Mall. Thanks for your help. I've copied your email to the local astronomy lists, and if someone out there can help, please reply to Amber (and cc me) if you would be willing to help out. If you don't hear back from me or someone else after a couple of weeks, please send me another reminder! -Rich --- Amber Withers wrote:
Hi Mr. Tenney,
My name is Amber Withers. I work for a not for profit that teachers character and life skills to children. I am currently working with a school in Orem providing monthly activities for the before and after school children. These children are there for extra homework help and the monthly activities are intended to reward them for their hard work. The principal and I have decided that a guest speaker on the basics of astronomy would be something fun and different for the students. The school apparently has some kind of blow up thing that shows different constellations, etc. The times are kind of awkward and the students who come in the morning are different from the students who stay after school. I am looking for someone who can do a presentation on astronomy. The times the students are in session are from 8am - 9:15am and then again from 2:30pm - 3:15pm. Would you or anyone you know be interested and have the time to come and speak to these students? If the same person had the time that would be great, or if two different people could come we would be happy for that as well. The day we are looking at is March 16, 2007.
If you could let me know either way I would appreciate it. I apologize for the length of this email. It's a lot of information. Please feel free to email or call me if you would like anymore information.
Thanks much,
Amber
