Dear Frontiers of Science Patron:
REMINDER-- Frontiers of Science lecture TONIGHT, Wed, April 18, 7:30 PM in the Aline W. Skaggs Biology auditorium. This event is free and open to the public! This is the last FOS event of the academic year.
Lucy Shapiro, director of the Beckman Center for Molecular and Genetic Medicine at Stanford University, will discuss "Emerging Infectious Diseases: A Clear and Present Danger!" She will address the fact that antibiotics, widely used since the 1950s, now are often ineffective because bacteria have many ways of acquiring and sharing resistance to the medications. Development of new antibiotics cannot keep pace in this biological arms race!
See http://www.unews.utah.edu/p/?r=040607-2 for the official U. of U. press release about this event.
See http://www.map.utah.edu/index.jsp?find=82 for a campus map to the event.
We hope to see you there! -- James R. DeGooyer Public Relations Specialist College of Science 1430 E. Presidents Cir. Rm. 220 Salt Lake City, UT 84112 Ph. (801) 581-3124 Fax (801) 585-3169
