Has anybody ever tried to buy any machines from Best before? Any tips on how to go about it with them? They have a location machine I want to make an offer on, but operators and distributors can be really odd to deal with, so if anybody has any inside info with these guys, I'd appreciate it. Thanks!
I've bought a few things from them years ago. IIRC the owner/manager's name is "Dave". The only problem is that he usually thinks things are worth way more than they are and everything he has is beat to hell. On 09/13/2010 10:06 AM, Jeff Rivera wrote:

I also bought several cabinets from them in 2008. I've had problems with every cabinet I bought from them but that is expected with the age. The one thing I wasn't happy about was I got a MKII cab that had been converted to a Golden Tee that had old vomit on the control panel. You would think that they could at least clean something like that before sending it out to a buyer. At least I only paid $100 for it On Tue, Sep 14, 2010 at 8:10 AM, Pete Ashdown <pashdown@xmission.com> wrote:

I think I actually spoke with him once about that JunkYard pinball machine he has up at Lagoon and he wanted a small fortune for it, but I'm still willing to try for another one of his machines. I'm willing to see if he's open to trading. I've got a pinball machine or two that he might be interested in. I'm trying to see if I can get that F-Zero AX out of his hands that he has. It's up at Lagoon, but the monitor needs to be capped and it's sitting next to an AfterBurner Climax that's been out of order all summer. Hopefully it points to his waning interest in maintaining and routing those types of cabs. Jeff, when would be a good time to give you a quick call? I've purchased a lot of cabinets from them over the years, though none after 2005 or so. They're the "Old Crap" arm of Mountain Coin. I don't know if they are directly related, or just both owned by the Kingstons. I knew Dave fairly well, down to the point that I scoured the piles of glass bezels to restore my Berzerk and Millipede. Generally, if Best is willing to sell it, it's pretty beat. I bought my now-restored Marble Madness cabinet there. But at that point it had been (badly) converted to Tetris, and then through a fire at a bar with smoke and water damage. When I was loading it into my truck, the guys there said they would not touch it as it had been in a gay bar.
one thing I wasn't happy about was I got a MKII cab that had been converted to a Golden Tee that had old vomit on the control panel.
Not surprising to me at all. I was late on picking up a cabinet once and they smashed it with a sledge and threw it in the trash. -Chris
