Yes, It seems that ever since I hit the cap on Slashdot, I have felt the need to seek other ways to gather positive karma unto myself. So to that end, I have one (1) zookeeper cocktail that is free for whomever wants it. The monitor looks like the vertical hold is messed up, and I am keeping the working Qix boardset that is in it. The CPO has been stripped too. Other than that it is complete. It does play blind. If you really want the Qix boards too, look at me with puppydog eyes. I can't resist that. I went to MC yesterday and finally got in the back room. Talked to a couple of the techs there, Kurt and Brent. Seemed like nice guys. Anyway, just inside the back doors is an Asteroids in a Lunar Lander cab. It looked legit, but I couldn't get to it to check the serial number. If anyone feels like going through the pain of dealing with MC, it would make a cool item to own. I just feel like going through the hassle. On a side note, I have 1 fully working Asteroids I am looking to sell/trade for. It's in decent shape. In another week I should have another one finished, just working on a power supply issue. I'm looking for a game shipper from the bay area. One that can do a pickup is good. Any suggestions? -Chris

Danzas AEI is what I've been using (www.danzas.com). Their wrapping jobs are pretty lame, so if you can get someone there to tape a blanket around the game, it will work best. I'd also recommend paying the few extra bucks for insurance.
try BAX Global...I've had really good experience with them. They will pick up and dropoff and will ship without crating if you like. I've shipped many games with them ,uncrated, without ins. (average cost .30 cents/lb). a typical video game (uncrated) cost me $100. You may have to setup an acct. and negotiate the cost per pound (I mentioned other shipper rates in order to get the cost down). http://www.baxglobal.com ----- Original Message ----- From: "Pete Ashdown" <pashdown@xmission.com> To: "Christopher B Strong" <strong@cs.utah.edu> Cc: <utvgg@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Wednesday, April 09, 2003 11:37 AM Subject: Re: [UtVgG] cheap shipper

Well, danzas, BAX global and express1 all tell me they will pick up, but they will not ship uncrated. If BAX did, they now disavow all knowledge of it. I'm going to write the guy and see if he can stick it on a pallet or something...but I don't know. Any other suggestions? -Chris
I am going to put my Asteroids in the paper this week. Any suggestions as to what section to put it in? I am thinking "Miscellaneous" but "Sporting Goods" also seems to work. Does it matter one way or the other? Bert - You still have dibs, if you want one. I have a chance to trade an Asteroids for a Berzerk. The Berzerk is claimed to be "minty" but not working. The guy says that there is a chip missing on the board, but everything is there. So, assuming that I can pop in a Z80 (or whatever the missing chip is) and have it come up, and that the machine is in nice shape, is this a fair deal? The only reason I ask is that I don't really like Berzerk and after I played it for a week I would want to trade it off or sell it. Normally when I trade games the only thing that matters is "Do I want this game more than that game". I feel cheap trying to assign "value" to a game. Any opinions? He has been blowing a bunch of games out lately, but when I emailed him about his Space Duel a while back I never got a response. He has a sawed off/factory conversion EDOT on ebay now. Anyone know him? Sean McLachlan MIS Manager LithoFlexo grafics inc. 801.484.8503
In my efforts to stop spam, I have been searching on google.com to see how many places it has my email address cached. I noticed it has quite a few instances of archives from this mailing list. I wonder if someone (Pete?) would consider making it so it can't be harvested by httpbots (such as spambots) by making the archives only viewable to subscribers?
