Hi all, Well, it's that time of year. The editors at the paper are going through and eliminating blogs that don't have high readership or reader interaction (ie comments). I love writing the astronomy blog and really, really want to keep writing it. So, here are a few ideas of mine: I would love to post up some of the awesome photos that many of you take. It could be of a variety of genres, from the awesome astrophotography I've seen to capturing a beautiful moonrise. I'd love to feature them as often as possible. If you have any other ideas on interactive things such as posting readers' photos, let me know. I'm totally open to new ideas. Also, if you guys have any suggestions (and I assure you I take criticism well) on how I can improve the blog, let me know. Again, I'd love for you guys to comment. I know it's a pain in the neck to register with Blogger.com, but the more comments, the better it appears to editors for readership. And, of course tell your friends and family about it! :) Here are this week's posts: A nice way to end the day Friday, Glow-in-the-dark Venus, A room with a view, An out-of-this-world proposal, Crash and burn. Chuck, I think Joe's comment was in jest. However, with the news out of Denver yesterday about another major daily going under I wont be surprised if the Trib and the D News do merge one day. patrick On 28 Feb 2009, at 00:02, Chuck Hards wrote:

Hi Sheena, Are you saying that the paper does not judge the popularity of blogs by how many hits they get but by the number of comments? You are certainly welcome to use any of my shots you care to. Even my boo-boos. :) I've been meaning to say that I like the way yours and Joe's blogs compliment each other. Joe tends to be a bit more local, folksy and "Keelerish" while yours gets more into the science. If you'd like to do something local, you might consider doing something to promote the upcoming OAS and SLAS star party seasons. patrick On 27 Feb 2009, at 18:26, Sheena McFarland wrote:

Sheena, I really do appreciate your blog. If you would like to use any of my photos, you are welcome to. Like Patrick, I see our blogs as both good for astronomy. Sometimes I too want to write about new science developments, but that doesn't make us enemy combatants. Increasing public interest in astronomy is good for the public and good for both of us.
