Re: [Utah-astronomy] New Orion SkyQuest XT8 Classic Dobsonian Telescope ?????
I have this telescope with the goto system. I've been very happy with it - light enough to move easily, and the views are pretty good. I was pleasantly suprised the first time I looked through it. I am clearly an amateur who is mostly interested in the pretty pictures I see through through the glass, and this scope serves me very well. If you want to try it before you buy, and you are ever in Utah County, you are welcome to look through mine. Nate S.

I just picked up an Orion XT10D from a pawn shop. After collimation I was able to get some really tight star images and the view of Jupiter was very sharp. My home is not known for good seeing, but that night the XT10 performed admirable. I did a Ronchi test on the mirror using Jupiter as the source and got perfectly straight lines across the whole mirror. At 38X I was able to read a sign that was about 2-1/2 miles away. I am very pleased with the performance of this scope. On Saturday, March 29, 2014 1:35 PM, nathan swenson <nathan_swenson@hotmail.com> wrote: I have this telescope with the goto system.
