I am actually going to get a three-day weekend! So I went to the SLAS calendar, and was a bit surprised to see absolutely no star parties or events of any kind scheduled for the long Labor Day weekend. So it goes. The backyard again.
With no planets is good viewing positions we need a better Moon to go under the lights at Harmons for the public. I'll be out in my backyard also. On Thu, Aug 28, 2014 at 7:19 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Nothing wrong with the backyard, especially compared to Harmons :) But the weathermen say cloudy and/or rainy all weekend. If you two have a cloud filter and not sharing that with the rest of us- shame on you! ----- Original Message ----- From: "Siegfried Jachmann" <siegfried@jachmann.org> To: "Utah Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Thursday, August 28, 2014 8:54:17 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] No astronomy events! Last night was fantastic, too bad I had to hit the sack at 10:00. It was clear as a bell again at 4:00 AM this morning. Tonight may not be too bad, after the heating of the day is over most of the clouds will disappear. Last night was great. The Milky-Way from my driveway was very naked eye evident. Not bad for suburbia! I you can make it out of the city to a dark site, I suggest looking for comet Jacques c/2014 E2. It's an easy binocular object currently crossing the square of Cepheus. At 20x80 there was a distinct tail. DT

I’m going to try to image this one, weather permitting, sometime in the next week. Dave On Aug 28, 2014, at 23:22, daniel turner via Utah-Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> wrote:
