Very interesting, Kurt. Why don't you post them on the Utah Astronomy gallery? I feel sure Cyn would be happy to set one up. Best wishes, Joe

Thanks. I'm deferring on asking to have a box setup until I've gotten further beyond the initial astrophoto learning curve stages. No need to clog the general net with but another out-of-focus Moon, Mars or Sun shot. Having pulled out my copy of Chuck Wood's _The Modern Moon_, some large scale lunar tectonic structures can be seen in the color pictures with albedo effects. Compare without label markups http://members.csolutions.net/fisherka/astronote/photos/20051023MoonMaresCol... with label markups http://members.csolutions.net/fisherka/astronote/photos/20051023MoonMaresCol... Wood notes that dark mantle (DM) of Serenity Basin was covered with three lavas intrusions - Unit I at 3.7-3.8 billion years ago (Gyr), Unit II at 3.5 Gyr, and Unit III at 3.0-3.4 Gyr. In the labelled figure, I have added the approximate boundaries of the flows from the figure at page 77 in _The Modern Moon_. As each lava flow covered the basin, the basin sank under the weight of the overburden, until the mantle failed. This process created long thrust faults such as the Serpentine Ridge. South in the Sea of Tranquility, the Lamont-Gardner Megadome is evident. _Modern Moon_ at 87-88. There is some hint in the photo of submerged Crater Lamont. - Canopus56(Kurt) __________________________________ Yahoo! Mail - PC Magazine Editors' Choice 2005 http://mail.yahoo.com

What are you saying exactly??? Hmmmm???
That my photos suck. It's no reflection on anyone elses astrophotos. Your photo of a cat armed with an M-16, however, . . . priceless. - Canopus56 __________________________________ Start your day with Yahoo! - Make it your home page! http://www.yahoo.com/r/hs
