Chuck, I have an AOL address and I've never had any problems with AstroMart. I've saved hundreds of dollars on the equipment I have bought through this site. I have to admit I was a bit nervous when I bought my TeleVue 102 refractor but when it came it was in like-new condition. Are they a bit flakey? Maybe, but I can save a buck or two, I put up with it. I mean you cannot say the words "ebay" and "Amazon" in your posts but there are ways to get around that. Like say "the big winding river in South America" instead of "Amazon". I know this sounds a bit flakey but where else can one go to find good good deals on expensive telescopes, eyepieces and other equipment. I'd keep trying until you find out why go can't get registered. Or I would call Anacortes Telescope and Wild Bird. Debbie
Thanks, Debbie, I'm glad you and Jo had good expereinces with them, but because they will not let me even register, I can't have any personal opinion other than "poor". C. --- UTAHDEB@aol.com wrote:

Chuck It is because your e-mail account is through yahoo. Astromart will not accept anonymous e-mail providers such as hotmail, yahoo, aol... ect. (They used to have a lot of trouble with fraud). I use my university e-mail account and it works fine. Greg --- Jim Stitley <sitf2000@yahoo.com> wrote:

Greg, you missed some of this thread. I posted that I tried both my Yahoo account AND my paid AOL account, on both my home computer AND my work computer, each running a different OS. I don't use the AOL account for astronomy, but used it reluctantly because of the warning in the FAQ. Some of us do read directions, sorry to shoot down what seems to be the most popular suggestion! ;) To date even the AOL account has not been allowed to get verified. I suppose I could use my company email address, though officially I have to discourage that practice among my employees, so I'd rather not. But it's no big deal, really. You don't need to be registered to read the ads, and if I see something I want I'll just have a friend buy it on his account, then pay him. Easier than tilting at virtual windmills. Deb, It comes down to not being able to log in at all and being denied access. Even if it were just a pain I would do it, but it is just not possible and they will not reply to emails about the problem. I canot believe they are so shortsighted. I cannopt imagine what their problems were that led to such a hard line position. I have way too much invested in my Yahoo account for business and persona uses to change email address again for no valid reason. I have personally tried on and off for over a year and get the same message, and I ahve finally given up. I knwo many people who have had the same problem with this firm. Just don't get the REAL issue. Jim UTAHDEB@aol.com wrote: Chuck, I have an AOL address and I've never had any problems with AstroMart.
