I'm posting this announcement with a bit of trepidation, but here it is. There are a few of you who may know that astronomy is only my second avocation. My first avocation--the one for which I'm formally trained--is composition. There are probably only a few on the list who may be interested in music like this. If pressed for a description, I would say it's modern classical music. Some would call it atonal, some might say avante garde (Click on my name in the announcement and that will take you to some examples). In any case, thanks for humoring me. Best New Year's wishes to all. Michael ---------------------------- Join the Contemporary Music Consortium of Salt Lake City on Thursday, January 5, 2006 at 7:30 PM for a concert of New Music. Michael, Could you post the actual link to the examples? It looks like the listserver or my mailserver stripped the link from your name. Thanks, Jo

I thought Recitative was brilliant. This opinion could be colored by the general lack of arias in the bass range though. Still, I'm looking forward to the completion of the entire opera which, no doubt, will be performed at the Met and put on DVD shortly after its completion. Michael Carnes wrote:

Thanks much. I've worked with that singer for over twenty years. He can sing the dickens out of Brahms, too. On Jan 2, 2006, at 9:00 AM, Lockman wrote:

Hi Michael, I'm excited to hear your music -- gotta use my home computer, as the iMac I have here at work is so ancient that I can't get it to play. Best wishes, Joe
