Possible Jupiter impact
This has been on a couple of other lists I'm on. Of course it's cloudy tonight so we can't check it out here in Utah. Maybe Rob or JD in Hawaii? http://www.acquerra.com.au/astro/ObsReport/jupiter-impact.html patrick
This is infuriating. I can't get the entire page to load. No image links are coming across. On Sun, Jul 19, 2009 at 10:08 PM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

OK, finally got ONE image http to load. That's definitely an impact site! And here I thought SL-9 was a once-in-a-lifetime happening. Thanks for posting that, Patrick!
Looks like it's working now. No doubt a lot of folks have been trying to log on. SpaceWeather also has a picture at http://spaceweather.com . patrick On 19 Jul 2009, at 22:27, Chuck Hards wrote:

No, it's in the wrong latitude for a moon's shadow. It looks exactly like the impact sites from SL-9. I spent a lot of nights observing and videotaping SL-9 impacts. It is definitely an impact. On Sun, Jul 19, 2009 at 11:03 PM, Joe Bauman <josephmbauman@yahoo.com>wrote:

Lots of chatter about this on the Minor Planet Mailing List today. All posters, including the pros with the big equipment, are agreeing it is an impact. patrick On 20 Jul 2009, at 09:43, Chuck Hards wrote:

Has anyone else photographed it? Of course NASA faked the moon landings, so can you really trust the experts.

Today's Deseret News has another Apollo 11 landing story, with commentary from Utah experts -- and Patrick gets top billing. It's at: http://www.deseretnews.com/article/705317969/NASA-has-big-moon-plans.html I would encourage all in our astro community who would like to recall that day, or discuss its importance, to add a comment to my blog: http://www.deseretnews.com/blogs/1,5322,10000034,00.html?commentBlogId=10000... Finally, the link in Rob's note is wonderful, because the Boston Globe did a magnificent job, with large photos on line. Thanks, Joe
