A while back there were some posts for another swap meet, but I've lost track of where the discussion ended. Is one slated, or did I miss it? The reason I ask is after the last SLAS meeting, I got pretty stoked up to build a parallelogram mount for my binoculars. I got a great pair of aluminum crutches at DI for three bucks. But now I'm stalled. My design of the arm and pivots is contingent on the mount/tripod. I'm toying with a crutch tripod design similar to what T & T advertises. The alternative plan is to find a used tripod & head, which leads to the point of this post: Does anybody out there have a tripod, with or without a head that they want to get rid of? If so, contact me off-group at my email below. Thanks! Joe Borgione jborgion@xmission.com

Well, the last I heard, Siegfried Jachmann was talking about a swap meet this Saturday at SPOC just before the star party. Have not heard anything official, thought. I'll see if I can reach Sieg for something official.
Does anybody out there have a tripod, with or without a head that they want to get rid of? If so, contact me off-group at my email below. I'm pretty sure I've got one kicking around somewhere that I was planning on bringing to the swap meet Saturday along with a bunch of other stuff I'm thinking I ought to surplus.
Cheers! Patrick
I saw a wooden tripod at the DI in Layton on Saturday, out in their outside Sales Yard. (I picked up a Yashica Lynx camera with f1.4 lens for $10 - didn't work, but I figured that for that price I could learn a little about camera repair. I've repaired the light meter and freed up the shutter, and it's almost usable again.) This tripod is the mount for one of those cheap drugstore telescopes, but seemed reasonably stable, and has adjustable legs. The center pivot for the yoke exhibited excessive play, but I'd imagine that you'd be modifying that anyway. It cost $15. I can do some simple lathe work if you need some help with modifying the pivot. Thanks for the heads up, Bob. Let me chew on that offer a bit; I've been congering up a couple of altternative designs that seem to work at least in the dark recesses of my brain.... JB -------------------
