Friday's "Messier" marathon at SPOC
With abut 25 folks showing up at SPOC last night one might say the turnout for the Messier Marathon was pretty good. Trouble is, an awful lot of those people were seen to quickly abandon their scopes shortly after setting up and crowding around the Big Scope looking (gawking? drooling?) at Saturn and other decidedly non-Messier objects. :-) We'll be out there again tonight, weather permitting. Y'all come! Patrick
Last night was my first ever attempt at a 'M'-marathon. The first two 'M' objects, the Moon and Mercury, were too easy. ;) Speaking of last night, if someone were to stand outside the Big Scope bay doors and yell, "Oh my heck will you look at that???", someone with a pickup truck and some help, could have cleaned up on a lot of abandoned telescopes... Well, I have a pickup truck and have been eyeing a 10-12 inch dob. This seems to be the cheaper route. Unfortunately I have an overdeveloped sense of morality. Dang morals...
