The nova was not visible to my unaided eye at six this morning. I plan to try binos Wednesday morning, weather permitting. I think it's still low enough that atmospheric extinction was playing a part; the air seemed clear however. And the LP of the valley certainly didn't help but a 4th-mag star has always been easily visible from my yard- at higher altitudes.
