[Utah-astronomy] SLAS meeting Tuesday; anyone know what the agenda is?
Curious as to what's on the menu for tomorrow night... Rich __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? The New Yahoo! Search - Faster. Easier. Bingo http://search.yahoo.com
Yes, I too would like to know about tomorrow's program topic and speaker. Just got into town from business trip and would like to know about the program also. Anyone? Since Patrick does a great job on the regular newsletter, this would be a great vehicle to announce the meeting programs a couple of times a few days leading up to the actual meeting. Is this possible since we always get the same questions each month just before the meeting. Could someone get the regular program info to Patrick to send out each month? Thanks, jim --- Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com> wrote:

Just a correction here. I put out my little electronic rag called News which should not be confused with the SLAS newsletter, Nova. However, if it's ok with the SLAS board (they declined my earlier offer to do PR for the club) I'd be happy to include meeting topics in News. Cheers! Patrick
Thanks for the correction, Patrick, I understand. All the members have been askng for is a regular email reminder about the upcoming meeting, topic and speaker. Since SLAS doesn't do it for whatever reason, I (and others) just thought your NEWS was the next best vehicle. This is asked every month and it seems like an easy enough thing to do. It doess not seem like rocket science, especially since Mr. Tenney also passes your NEWS to the other club - this seems like the easiest and best way to get the message out to the MOST interested people. What will it take, a formal petition to the Board and a member vote??? I am confused, they are looking for good turnouts and more participation each month, but not inform about the meeting thru an email. I know you are tryign to help, Patrick, I guess I asked the wrong person. But, what I was doing was asking A SLAS officier to use your regular NEWS to ASSIST in this communication - wonder why everything has to be SO political? If SLAS doeasn't want you to do it, then they should!!! Hint - Hint, SLAS Leadership! This is too frustrating when one puts in so many work hours and travels and just wants simple info on the next meeting - what's so hard with this request??? There, I feel better, but SLAS leaders, PLEASE figure this out or you will lose members if they feel you dont' care about such a simple request. Thanks, Patrick, I LOVE your regular NEWS. This small suggestion would make it even better, ttu I know that is not your call, only your willingness to help - hey (SLAS) guys/gals, let him help if you don't want to do it. Nighty Night, Patrick! Pleasant Dreams! Jim --- Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net> wrote:

Count me in as one who deeply values Patrick's News, which is a world-class production. Any astronomy club that could induce him to provide information about meetings or press releases, etc., would be a giant step ahead. Just my 2/100. -- Joe
Thanks for the kind comments but please note that I did not mean my post to be a criticism, just a statement of fact. I just got off an email to the club's new president and new VP asking about the meeting topic and asking their permission to post it here and future such info in News. Remember, one, that I've not been able to be an active member this year and that could have influenced the board's earlier decision. And remember, two, that the board recently reorganized so please give them time to get up to speed. Patrick
I understand, Patrick, I did not take it as a criticism at all!!! I did express a little of my own frustrations and obviously a number of other members for some email announcement for just a couple days prior to meetings. I travel a lot and can get wirless emails on the road, but not websites, in case it is on the SLAS webpage. Thanks for all you do!Jim Patrick Wiggins <paw@trilobyte.net> wrote:Thanks for the kind comments but please note that I did not mean my post to be a criticism, just a statement of fact. Hi Patrick. Susan Biesele here. I would love to receive your "electronic rag" --- I think you send it to Bill, but it doesn't make it to my email corner of the world. I haven't seen you at a meeting for a while - I hope everything is well with you and you are enjoying your retirement! BTW - I can't imagine why The Board wouldn't want you to do PR for the club. I can't think of a better promoter or ambassador for the field of Astronomy. When I think of the club - I actually think of you. Anyway - thanks for your consideration. Bill and I continue to go to meetings and even make some of the outings. We hope to do more this summer as we are both free as the birds. Ditto on Patrick's contributions to the club !!!!! Most clubs have the opposite probelm - no one will take on these kinds of jobs. Thank goodness for Patrick and his very willing heart and giving !!!Jim "S. Biesele" <susan@biesele.net> wrote:Hi Patrick. Susan Biesele here.
