LPI-Guiding Camera compatible with Windows 7 Prof
After some experimentation, I have concluded that my Windows 7 Prof laptop cannot be made to connect with a Celestron NexImage LPI camera - at least without a mind-boggling set of modifications. I am reading the same thing about the Meade LPI on the net. Does anyone have any real world experience in getting an LPI solar system class imager to work under Windows 7 Prof? I have been able to get all of my mid-range camera to work, but not a low-end guider camera. Thanks - Kurt
Kurt, Since you have Windows 7 Professional, you can download for free and install a Windows XP emulation that allows you to use your laptop as an XP machine. I did this on mine and I can run all my old XP devices etc. The USB ports under emulation have to be added using the attach function in the top center. You can move back and forth between Windows 7 and emulation as though XP were just another window. The Windows XP emulation is available from Microsoft and is available to all Windows 7 Professional users. Kurt: Have you tried just running the XP version in Compatibility mode on Win 7? If you RIGHT click on the launching Icon and select "Properties" then go to the "Compatibility" tab you can select XP Pack 2 or 3 or even go back to Windows 95 if you want. If you have a program that ran on XP there is no reason it shouldn't run on Windows 7.
