I just saw a story on KSL to the effect that Larry Miller is planning to build a huge, "world-class" car-racing facility on the road between Grantsville and Tooele. The renderings and siteplans I saw were for a very large facility, tens of thousands of seats, acres and acres of track. Like a Daytona or Indianapolis... I hope this doesn't compromise SPOC or the Lakeside site; to say nothing of the traffic problems it will bring to highway 201 & I-80. Anybody have further info on this? Do they race at night? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - Helps protect you from nasty viruses. http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail

I first heard about it from my boss at the drop zone. He's concerned that the Homeland Security folks will ban flying in the area and shut down the Erda airport when the track is being used. I wonder what the noise will be like. While the light pollution ordinance should protect the skies I don't know what will protect our ears. Patrick
I don't think the 'light pollution ordinance' will have any effect on the glare from all the traffic. Not to mention all the dust in the atmosphere. Maybe now would be a good time to drop him a note to let him know that there is an observatory in the area and what effect the proposed plan might have on it's operation. Not to sound crazy.. but watch out for Larry Miller I have been around several things that he wanted to build and he gets his way no matter what...(the public voted one way and the city agreed, and the next thing you know they are doing it his way) Dan diveboss@xmission.com wrote: I don't think the 'light pollution ordinance' will have any effect on the glare from all the traffic. Man, 30 years ago when I moved away from the South, I hoped I'd seen the last of NASCAR. Now we get loud cars and guys in clown suits out here? Jeez!
