A few afternoons ago while flying over by the city of Tooele the plane "lit up" by a light source coming from below. I looked down and found myself looking into what looked like a partially complete solar farm and many of its mirrors were catching the Sun and redirecting it my way. I don't remember seeing any news coverage of this facility. Anyone here heard anything? Whatever it was I flew over again yesterday and it appeared about 3/4 done. Pretty impressive setup: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/solarwind.jpg Reminds me of the solar farm down by Barstow a few of us SLASers visited several years ago. patrick
That's impressive, Patrick. Maybe it's a secret NSA storage unit.... ________________________________ From: Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com> To: utah astronomy listserve utah astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, August 5, 2013 1:01 AM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Tooele solar farm? We are currently in a very good time to be watching for shooting stars and there have been some significant meteor and meteorite activity worldwide. So I have been wondering if anyone local has seen any notable shooting stars in the past couple of weeks? This week the annual Perseid meteor shower is combined with the Delta Aquariids meteor showers from opposite directions. With me not being an astronomer, you guys are much more familiar with the tech side of this, but I'm hoping against the odds that just maybe we might get a meteorite fall in the area :)
I remember reading this: http://www.ksl.com/?nid=148&sid=21753389 Dan -- Sent from an iPad. There should be less mispelings, but more errors.
