Who counted votes at SLAS meeting?
Hi folks, I'm having a senior moment here. Ugh. Last month at the SLAS general membership meeting two people counted votes up on the stage in the primary election. One was Daniel Turner but I can't remember who the other person was. Anyone here happen to remember who that was? Thanks, patrick
What is a senior moment? I'm glad I don't have those! I'll think about it and it will probably come to mind around three in the morning. I'll let you know if I remember it. One more thing who is Patrick? Steve

Dale Wilson and Dan Turner were initially asked to count votes and be on the election committee. However I would check with both of them to see if they are still available, we need at least two people. Not final yet. Last month's vote was to winnow down the number of folks running for board member at large to 4. SLAS now has its full slate of candidates and those are the ones currently being voted on. patrick

No, nothing new. Per the club's constitution the primary election was held at last month's meeting with votes cast by those present at the meeting. The general election (where members can vote online) is running now and that will continue until next week's meeting where the results will be announced. patrick

Bloated club government. Why couldn't the candidates with the most votes simply be installed in office after the first vote? Flawed constitution. It's a damn astronomy club, not a state legislature I realize this isn't the best forum for my complaint, but then my job prevents me from attending meetings. I can't live and die for the club at present, paying the bills and eating takes precedence as long as I am "merely" a rank-and-file member. I therefore accept that my dues are voluntary donations without recompense or representation other than elections. No need to reply. Seriously.
