What time does the sun party start on Saturday? I can't find a time on the SLAS website. Thanks.
Chuck, The official Start time is 9:00 AM but telescopes start showing up about 8:00 AM, there operators show up after they get out of bed :) Rodger Fry -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Chuck Hards Sent: Wednesday, September 07, 2011 6:53 AM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Sun party Sept. 10 What time does the sun party start on Saturday? Where were you today, Rodger? Here are some pics of today's Sun Party at Winchester Park. I have to agree with the regulars that this is a very good valley location for solar viewing. I left at 11:30 and the seeing was still acceptable. In fact it was pretty good for approaching mid-day. The field: http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii24/JethroTull1958/ATM/09-10-11_0924.jpg Here's my solar setup at the sun party. PST with 18mm ortho eyepiece, background. After using a Teletrack Goto mount for this scope for over a year, I switched to a light-duty equatorial with synchronous drive, powered by a small inverter. Setup is now much simpler. Precise polar alignment isn't needed at the low powers used with the PST. The sun stays in the field of view for hours. Setup takes one minute. http://i260.photobucket.com/albums/ii24/JethroTull1958/ATM/09-10-11_0925.jpg
Chuck, This is the first star party I have missed this year. I had a commitment that I couldn't get out of so had to pass. See you at 2:30 PM. I wanted to stop by, but our annual homeowner's association meeting ran until almost noon. I would like to have gotten a chance to get over there today though. On Sat, Sep 10, 2011 at 1:37 PM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

No problem, there was only one star out anyway. ;-)
See you soon.
