A really good read is "The Black Hole War: My Battle with Stephen Hawking to Make the World Safe for Quantum Mechanics" by Leonard Susskind, a professor of theoretical physics at Stanford (see Wikipedia, if you do not want to read the book). I am probably not telling a number of you something you do not already know, but for those who do not: Hawking postulates information entering a black hole is lost forever as the black hole evaporates, while Susskind took an opposing stance.
