Patrick, maybe you, Chuck VB and I should collaborate on something really special? Launch a bowling ball into orbit?
How many match heads and sparklers you figure you'll need?

Although it is easily possible to calculate, I thought we'd just buy wholesale from Thiokol- since they use a very similar formula. Plus, the wimpy sparklers of today just don't have the kick of '60's sparklers anyway, and I'm told the Feds track match purchases because they are precursor ingredients for making meth... __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Actually, the matches themselves aren't the problem, it's the Red Phosphorus (RP) obtained from the striking pad on the match covers and boxes that is the concern... or, so I've heard.
You know, though, if someone had some time on their hands, it might be moderately interesting to know just how many match heads and sparklers it would take to orbit a 12-lb. bowling ball... --- Kim Hyatt <kimharch@cut.net> wrote:

Maybe we can commission Kurt to do that... ;) That ought to be right up his alley! What do you say Canopus? Quoting Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com>:

Unfortunately, I've already blown up all of my models during my misspent youth, so I don't have anything to use an oversized cherry bomb on. --- diveboss@xmission.com wrote:

Thanks for reminding me. When I was a little kid, my older brother and his friends had me hold on to a plastic toy handgrenade as they placed a rather big firecracker in the hole in the bottom of it, and then lit it. The problem was, they took off running so fast, I really couldn't hear what they were yelling, so I just stood there and took it. BOOM! Yup, Marine Corps material for sure... my future was sealed! ;) Quoting Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com>:

We seem to have a two day hole in our normal monsoonal cloud parade. Tonight and tomorrow night will be clear, thursday is "mostly clear" and friday and saturday are back to "partly cloudy". Moon rises after midnight so it may be worth a short drive for a short work/school night viewing session. DT --------------------------------- Start your day with Yahoo! - make it your home page
Alas, when you have to get up at 4:30 for work, you have to get to bed before dark. No such thing as a work night viewing session in summer for some of us! But we'll be there in spirit. --- daniel turner <outwest112@yahoo.com> wrote:

Don't talk to whom???????? Seriously, I only have one comment on the shuttle. At least one other needed. -- Thanks, Joe
