The Grim scope (and several portable scopes ) are all set up and ready here at SPOC. NASA TV's coverage of the "Wallop" is about to start. So I guess we're all ready to go. As 7 telescopes sat perfectly poised in a semi circle fashion, with all eyes trained on the faint, fuzzy object near Spica, and, with the sounds of a distant coyote howling at who knows what, one couldn't help but feel the excitement and anticipation in the air as the atomic clock from a GPS receiver, displayed the seconds to impact. Five,(dare I look?) four,(I hope I don't go blind) three, two, one... minus one, minus two, minus three, minus four... well, you get the picture. The smoke and haze that hung just above the horizon didn't help matters at all. But the spectacular view above the muck and the presence of the other folks who came out to Pit N Pole, made it all worth while...
