I flew down to the Delta area today in hopes of seeing the new cosmic ray observatory. I expected to find a bunch of detectors laid out all over the desert floor for kilometers in all directions. But what I found was this: http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/COSMICRAY01.JPG Either I was looking in the wrong place or they are not as far along as I thought. One thing's for sure though. Once it's finished it's going to be big: http://web.utah.edu/unews/news_images_2004/jan/TelescopeArray.jpg pw
I don't know whether it was the Delta cosmic ray observatory or not, but about a month ago, while driving from the west into Delta, from Sevier Lake (dry) to Delta there were a lot of small solar collector appearing structures visible along both sides of highway 50/6. Wayne

Hi Wayne, Yes, that's definitely the cosmis ray observatory. I've written a few articles about it and have seen the instruments. The solar collectors power the arrays and allow them to send information back via radio. -- Joe WAYNE S CLARKE <waynesclarke@msn.com> wrote: I don't know whether it was the Delta cosmic ray observatory or not, but about a month ago, while driving from the west into Delta, from Sevier Lake (dry) to Delta there were a lot of small solar collector appearing structures visible along both sides of highway 50/6. Hi All, I think what Patrick saw was one of the two bases in the desert; I think they are collector points but I'm not sure. I have put two views in my album to show what the detectors themselves look like, one before they were distributed and another showing a single detector in the desert.
