Has anyone tried the photo album in the last couple days? A friend of mine on another album I have says that hers isn't allowing uploads. I had some problems beginning of this week with one of my websites, but I fixed it and things seemed okay. Today, however, all the mySQL databases are not working. It appears my database is offline. I didn't think this would effect the photo album, but it appears it might be doing so. :( And, unfortunately, I'm out of town this weekend and next for dog stuff. I'll try to do some quick fixes this week but no guarantees for a while. :) Anyone recommended their favorite Linux OS? I have Red Hat 8 on that box and it's no longer being supported. I'm thinking of setting up a brand new server with new flavor of Linux and moving everything over. My box has been up for 2 years now and I think that's pretty darn lucky with no hacks. :) Cyn -- CH Pembroke Faded Glory NA NAJ NAC TN-N Elsinore Lucilla Aurelius CGC Angel Pumpkin Spice Lady CGC Spirit Chasers Spice http://www.cynthiablue.net http://www.utahdogs.com http://www.animalfoster.com
Aloha Cynthia I have tried to upload a few images from our solar eclipse here and I have been unsuccessful. Is this problem fixed??, I'd like to post these new images. aloha Rob
Rob, It hasn't been fixed. I woke up this morning and the server was rebooting itself. It has some problems and it might be a couple of weeks before they are fixed. It appears up now, but no guarantees until I set up a brand new server. And I won't be able to even start that until next week. I'm out of town for the next two weekends. :( Sorry everyone. I'll let you all know when it's stable again. Cynthia Rob Ratkowski wrote:

Cyn, I quite like SuSE 9.1, FWIW. Rich --- Cynthia Blue <leviblue@utahdogs.com> wrote:

Cynthia, While we can all chime in, (my personal is Mandrake), it might help to just determine which distribution best suits your needs. For instance, if you are interested in a box that will sit in a closet, and never really be touched physically, the a small and powerful distribution will be best suited. For instance, Debian. If you are also going to be using the linux box as a desktop machine, then you will want something that is a little more user friendly, with included packages and features. For instance, Mandrake 10.1. If you are a hacker, and comfortable compiling, installing, and running kernels, downloading new libraries, and getting everything up and running, then you can go much further afield. SuSE is excellent, so is Turbo. If you are looking for something that is similar to what you have right now, try Fedora Core 2 (the newest release (psuedo) from RedHat). It all really depends on your use / comfort level / application feature set included with the distribution. PS. I work as a systems integrator, and prior UNIX developer, so if you have any questions, please feel free to shoot them off to me. :-) Cheers, James Helsby. Richard Tenney wrote:

I personally enjoy Gentoo (extremely advanced) and SuSE ... Check out here: http://www.ibiblio.org/pub/linux/distributions/ --- James Helsby <cyanics@xmission.com> wrote:
