It's been generally so cloudy in the early mornings lately that it took me by surprise when I spotted Jupiter and Mars coming over the mountains early this morning.
Thanks for the heads up Chuck! I'll check it out. -A On Thu, Jul 18, 2013 at 5:38 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Mars is pretty dim, but it's close to Jupiter so easy to find. It's sobering to remember that even though Mars is about half the distance from earth that Jupiter is right now, Jupiter is still so much brighter because it's so stinking BIG! Are you skies any good up north? I haven't had anything good since June 20th and that was mediocre with the wind. If there is a hole in the clouds and seeing is decent, I want a better view of Saturn. Hopefully below 90 too! Debbie On Thu, Jul 18, 2013 at 11:57 AM, Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> wrote:

Debbie, it's been generally lousy up here, too. Only a handful of clear nights in that timeframe, and always on nights when I have to go to bed early. Last night was clear, but of course the waxing moon is wiping-out any chance at deep-sky objects though doubles aren't affected. Saturn is getting lower all the time so the earlier you look, the better. Jupiter is still way too low in the morning sky for good views. Looks like the weatherman is saying that you're supposed to get some storm action down south this weekend. We're supposed to be mostly clear for the next couple of days though as I said, the moon pretty much wastes the clear skies. On Sat, Jul 20, 2013 at 10:54 AM, Debbie <astrodeb@beyondbb.com> wrote:
