Re: [Utah-astronomy] Observing report from Rush Valley (Saturday 5 March)
Mike You were right about those bright spots in M33 being forground stars. I just looked at a picture of M33 and saw the same patern. Couldn't have been NGC604. Jim diveboss@xmission.com wrote: Quoting Richard Tenney :
The "problem" with finding open clusters in Monoceros is like trying to find needles in a haystack -- most of it is rich milky-way starfields that make it difficult to tell where a cluster begins and where it ends. Thank goodness for setting circles!
Rich, That's what I like about smaller scopes. The view is not nearly as cluttered. They are also not as bright to look through. I accidentally looked at the Milky Way one night through Daniels 17.5 scope. It was like looking at the sun, no matter where I looked for the rest of the night, all I seen was stars. Completely ruined my night vision. Had to close my eyes for a half hour so I could see to drive home... ;) _______________________________________________ Utah-Astronomy mailing list Utah-Astronomy@mailman.xmission.com http://mailman.xmission.com/cgi-bin/mailman/listinfo/utah-astronomy Visit the Photo Gallery: http://www.utahastronomy.com --------------------------------- Celebrate Yahoo!'s 10th Birthday!
