To me, the amazing part of all this is that the Federal Government waited until last night to even begin gearing up to help out. After all, they were the ones sending out the warnings as of last Friday. I find it difficult to think about the animals given the news that there maybe hundreds perhapse even thousands of humans dead just in New Orleans. Barney

As was mentioned before, many (but not all) of the humans stayed because they chose to do so. The animals stayed because they had no choice. But the thing that I've yet to see explained is why so many are so surprised when a city, built next to and below the level of the gulf, gets flooded. Kind of like building a house next to an airport and then being surprised by the noise. Patrick

Or building a metropolitan area of nearly 2 million people in a remote desert valley with limited water...
We got plenty of water if people would quit moving here... :) Quoting Michael Carnes <MichaelCarnes@earthlink.net>:

Speaking of moving here - Did anyone hear that 1000 Gulf refugees are coming to Salt Lake? My mom told me that, but since her stroke her information is not always reliable.

It was on the news tonight. At least 1,000 and maybe more. I feel sorry for them (because of their situation, not because they are coming here). Patrick
