More on NASA budget in today's Tribune
I saw a program on Nat Geo about the constellation program. Constellation seems like a descriptive word for the program. The rocketry seemed like a minor part of a very ambitious project.
They noted a gallon of water would cost $80,000 to send to moon. The project seemed to require the production of water, food, and oxygen. It seems those technologies had little chance of success by 2010, they were presented as very much still under development with even the theory of water extraction is as yet undemonstrated. Much more research seems needed. ATK did perhaps the best job of providing their part. I can understand their disappointment, perhaps they can find a way to utilize their facilities. http://www.deseretnews.com/article/700009768/Budget-may-scrap-Ares-I-motors....
