X37B overflight Sat 5-29 11_33_45 MDT
I believe I may have seen the X37B as naked eye object during its 9:50pm overpass, but am classifying as a "non-acquisition." The Heaven's Above plot for the X37B overflight of SLC at 11:33:45pm MDT Sat 5-29 shows the X37B passing with a magnitude 4.6 brightness within a one degree TFOV of nu Leo Star HR 3937 HD 86360 SAO 98876 Flamsteed Number: 27 Bayer Letter: Nu Constellation: Leo Visual Magnitude: 5.26 nu Leo is about midway between Mars and Regulus. nu Leo will be low to the horizon at alt 23.5 degs. - Kurt
I also tried to spot it from I-80 just west of SLC. Nothing naked eye. Did see something with 7x35s but not sure it was the X-37. A pass near the zenith tomorrow night. patrick On 29 May 2010, at 22:25, Canopus56 wrote:

Thanks for the heads up on that pass Kurt. Saw it easy with 10x50s as it passed just south of Mars and continued to follow it until it passed into the terminator a few seconds later. Heavens Above data were accurate. Let's hope the weather cooperates for tomorrow night's much better pass. patrick p.s. The satellite I saw earlier turned out to be something called Earth Radiation Budget Satellite which was launched by the shuttle in 1984.
