Misc nature pic - Sunset on Storm Mtn
A minor add to the gallery - a quick snap while driving around town today of sunset on the Big Cottonwood Twin Peaks and Storm Mtn. Nothing great. - Kurt http://gallery.utahastronomy.com/main.php?g2_itemId=10890 ____________________________________________________________________________________ Be a better friend, newshound, and know-it-all with Yahoo! Sunset seen FROM Twin Peaks is terrific, too! Although I've never been up there in January, I have been up there in September. If you are physically able, I highly recommend any and all of the Wasatch front peaks with public trails. And the valley seen from up there at night is breathtaking if you pack up a tent and sleeping bag. I did an overnighter using a one-man tent years ago, taking an R/C sailplane. As it turns out, the terrain was too rocky near the peak for me to risk the plane, but the scenery was more than adequate compensation. Today I often set up a telescope or large binocular in my front yard, and scan the ridge lines and alpine valleys up there. Sometimes I spot hikers and wildlife. I'm thinking of a Wasatch front hike later this summer- anybody else possibly interested? On Jan 26, 2008 8:51 PM, Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com> wrote:

It's a one-man tent, rolls-up to about 6" dia. by 10" long. Had it since jr. high, still have it. It was WINDY up there, and you don't see many stars with the entire Wasatch front spread out under you. Yes, when there are stars, I'll sleep under them. But they have to show-up first... ;o) On Jan 27, 2008 8:30 AM, <diveboss@xmission.com> wrote:
