Comet & sky great tonight
When I got home tonight the sky was overcast so I was surprised when Bruce Grim called a few minutes ago exclaiming about the comet. I hustled outside and, sure enough, it had cleared off and the comet was _still_ easy naked eye. Maybe it's time to start calling Comet Holmes the comet that would not die. I'm currently imaging a few MPs and the crystal clear images are telling me the seeing is superb. And as a bonus: No Moon! What a night. pw
Aloha Patrick No comet here as we have had cloud cover, wind and heavy rain for the past 5 days. I just checked summit wind speeds and it's blowing at 122 mph http://rti.faulkes-telescope.com/control/Weather.isa. I had planned a trip up today to do some work on our site but as you can see, it would not be the safest thing to do. Most of the Hawaii TV channels are out so I can't say much about the other islands except it's really windy. It was a really beautiful day yesterday though ;^) aloha from windy Maui Rob

Hi Rob, I had a great trip to Hawaii over Thanksgiving weekend. I'm sorry I didn't have time to link up with you but family comes first. Your travel advice was very helpful. I just checked the link and the winds are up to 128 mph (57.4 m/s). WOW!! Hold on to your butt! Hi Tyler I'm glad you all had a good time and YES family is 1st. Still no contact w/ the top, it's going to be a real blow and I'll be interested in hearing what the top wind speed was. Mauna Kea has been issued a blizzard warning, they had a light dusting this AM. TV just issued a blizzard warning for Haleakala too, soon as it clears I'll shoot some snow shots w/ palm trees !!!!
