I know there are a lot of variables, but, assuming an 8" f10 scope at 200x and using 1600 speed film, how fast (range) should my shutter speed be to capture Mars? What about a photo shot at "prime" rather than using eyepiece projection? TIA. Barney B.
My suggestion, based on using both 800 and 200 film, is to go the other direction in film speed. Instead of 1600, use slower speed and the old "hat trick," assuming your telescope tracks well for a few seconds. Then try as short an exposure you can manage on up to two or three seconds. Keep track of how long you keep it exposed and then check the film, so you can adjust for the next roll. But that's just an idea.
