Urgent - Channel 4 news wants info
I just got a phone call from one of the directors at Channel 4 news. She wants to hear from anyone that saw the flyover this morning from down south, and apparently wants to do a personal interview with those willing to be on camera (Patrick, are you back yet?). They are also looking for someone who has a model of the space shuttle that would be willing to let them use it for the news segment (all of Hansen Plaetarium's stuff is in boxes it seems, ready for the move to the Gateway location). Anyway, if anyone can help, contact Megan Herrick at Channel 4 news: 975-4401 Thanks, Rich __________________________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail Plus - Powerful. Affordable. I've been in touch with Patrick and he's been in contact with most of the media regarding Columbia. He's been up for 25 hours and is understandably still in shock (as I think we all are). Please keep him in your thoughts as well as the families, friends, and colleagues of the Columbia crew. He' s got a tough job right now dealing with the media. Not a job I would envy. Salt Lake is very lucky to have Patrick as such a knowledgeable resource. David Bennett President Salt Lake Astronomical Society On Saturday, February 1, 2003, at 01:51 PM, Jim Gibson wrote:

My wife and I spent the night at the Comfort Inn in Hurricane and missed the last few updates. At about 6:50 we thought that maybe the landing had been canceled because we were expecting the fly-over at about 6:44. We waited a little longer and here it came. It was truly spectacular! We were surprised at how bright white/blue it was. We were expecting more of an orange color. As the vapor trail began to fade we went back into the motel to watch the landing on TV and were shocked by the news that Houston had lost contact with Columbia. What a tragic loss! We also began to re-think our position to the flight path. We were almost directly under it's path so had the breakup started sooner we would have been in the path of the falling debris. Sad sad day. ----- Original Message ----- From: "Richard Tenney" <retenney@yahoo.com> To: "Utah-Astronomy" <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Saturday, February 01, 2003 12:55 PM Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Urgent - Channel 4 news wants info
