Just wondering if anyone has taken a look at this comet that is brightening? I've read two reports of a 10 and 12 inch dob seeing the comet and both tails, one with a sketch. Here is a finder chart. http://www.aerith.net/comet/catalog/2009P1/2009P1.html Sent from my iPad
Hi Jay -- do you know how bright it will get, and when? C/2009 P1 (Garradd) in a moonlight saturated sky. C-14 @ f/5.5, ST-10XME binned 3x3 and cooled to -10, 7 30 second exposures each taken ~10 minutes apart this morning between 0842 and 0942 UT. FOV is about 18x26 arc minutes. No special processing. Just applied a dark and a flat. I just realized I forgot to flip the images so south is up and east to the right. So best viewed when standing on one's head. Looking forward to seeing this one brighten as some are predicting. http://users.wirelessbeehive.com/~paw/temp/C2009P1.GIF Original FIT images available to anyone who would like to play with them. BTW, I get my ephemerides from: http://www.minorplanetcenter.org/iau/MPEph/MPEph.html If you'd like to get yours there too and if you live in northern Utah feel free to use my observatory code, 718, rather than entering Long/Lat/Alt patrick 718 On 13 Jul 2011, at 14:19, Jay Eads wrote:

Neat animation. But remember, in space there is no up or down so it doesn't matter how the views are oriented.
