Hello all, I'm going to be volunteering in May/June at Bryce Canyon, and am trying to find a way to stay through the end of their Astronomy Festival. All rooms in the park are booked at this point, and unfortunately I don't own my own camping gear, so I'm hoping (a long shot perhaps) that one of you might have a lead on an available room (or sleeping space) that I might be able to take advantage of during that week. I am SO excited to head back west next month. It's been too long since I've seen those big dark open skies! Cheers, ~Kelly Ricks
I have (I think) a campsite assigned, but I plan to just sleep in my van. You'd be more than welcome to put up a tent at my campsite. Hi Kelly, See http://www.brycecanyoncountry.com/where-to-stay-and-eat/ and click on Bryce Canyon Area. Also, there are some small motels in Tropic close to the Park. See http://www.tripadvisor.com/Hotels-g57154-Tropic_Utah-Hotels.html and http://www.americasbestvalueinn.com/bestv.cfm?idp=1202 as an examples. Don't wait to book - the Festival has become a big event. If you would like to participate as a volunteer I need the following information emailed to me at djcolton@piol.com: 1. First and Last Name. 2. Vehicle Make 3. Vehicle License 4. Telescope kind and size. 5. Nights you would like to volunteer. Free camping is available should you decide you can camp. You can buy a tent and sleeping bag etc. for the prices of a few nights at the motels. Kelly, I have a second room at Bryce Canyon Pines motel which I had reserved for my son. I saw him last week and he has decided he cannot make it this year. As I remember, I reserved them starting Wed, and checking out Sun morning. You would be welcome to it, although I do not know if they have a waiting list, etc. I am going to turn it back this week, so let me know if you want it. The motel is a few miles west of the park turnoff and does have a cafe. We have stayed there a number of years. You can check out their website. 73
