I just tried this using a C-5 stopped down to 50mm and running at 45x and saw a nice clean pass, right on time and right through the center. I was surprised at how much detail could be seen on the ship. Alas, not a single sunspot to be seen (I'm starting to think Maunder Minimum, the sequel). Bruce Grim observed from his place around the corner from me. His wife saw it through a short tube 80mm refractor. He tried but failed to see it through a 6x30 finder. patrick
