Obama likely to ax moon mission
http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/space/os-no-moon-for-nasa-20100126,0,277... I hope this is incorrect - it seemed Constellation finally gave NASA some real goals to achieve. The Augustine Commission certainly showed that there were problems, but if you cancel this now I'm afraid the dream is dead. Clear skies, Dale.
According to a news report I heard this morning there are deep cuts in much of the space program. I think this shortsighted and as the commentator noted much of the job stimulus money is for projects going nowhere that confer little benefit. He pointed out that space exploration, on the other hand, has the led to the development of much of today's technology and reaps many unforeseen benefits. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Dale Hooper Sent: Wednesday, January 27, 2010 9:34 AM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: [Utah-astronomy] Obama likely to ax moon mission http://www.orlandosentinel.com/news/space/os-no-moon-for-nasa-20100126,0,277 0904.story I hope this is incorrect - it seemed Constellation finally gave NASA some real goals to achieve. I am very unhappy about the lack of support shown by the Obama administration to space exploration. I totally expect Monday's announcement to include the cancellation of the Constellation Project. This will just about guaranteee that the next men on the moon will be Chinese and we will be left behind technologically. Rodger Fry ----- Original Message ----- From: "Don J. This would truly be a betrayal of an American dream that has guided and challenged us for more than 50 years. -- Joe ________________________________ From: Rodger C.
