Re: [Utah-astronomy] New Canon EOS for astrophotography
Thanks, David, for the correction on the link. I need to slow down and start to proof read what I write again. Chuck, as to your question, I have no experience with the Canon 60D (in this case, the 60Da). It is powered by a LP-E6 lithium-ion battery pack, which I would imagine should be adeqauate for a number of "Bulb" exposures of 5+ minutes each. However, I'm planning on adding the LP-E6 battery pack which has 1.3x more capacity than the one supplied with my 5D Mark II and 7D Canons, and which is compatable with the 60Ds. While in British Columbia this June I plan to do some all-night photography, particularily in hopes of capturing some nice aurora displays. In addition, one of the cameras will be fitted with the TC-80N3 remote control time which I'll use to make a movie should we get lucky with a nice auroral display. I'll be able to let everyone know the results of how time exposures affect battery life of the two battery packs at the June meeting for those interested. Tom Sevcik
