Re: [Utah-astronomy] [sllug-members]: obama's at it again
Leif, For my own personal preferences, I feel it's a great idea for the United States to adopt a German and/or European Union model to net privacy. Personally, I've been tracked and monetarized to death by internet marketers and online vendors, and I would like better control over my personal reputation. The potential downsides that I see to reopening the issue is that it can be diverted into creating Homeland Security's desire for a fully tracked no-anonimity internet and/or for the major backbone providers to take another shot at derailing net neutrality for the internet side, inside of walling variable connection pricing off on the wireless cell phone side. To respond to the top post, I hope that "obama's at it again." At a minimum, the U.S. needs a "do not email" governmental registry that corresponds to the "do not call" governmental and "do not surface mail" industry voluntary registries. Regards, Kurt
