Just watched the Space Shuttle Atlantis Launch on NASA TV. I have to say that I was very impressed by the strength of the video stream off the external fuel tank camera. Hardly any static or beak up of signal until just pass the orbiter rolling back right side up and again just around fuel tank seperation. In the past the video's been pretty sketchy as far as staying static free. I admit I haven't had the chance to watch the last 2-3 launches on NASA TV to compare to todays, but I enjoyed this one. Agreed. I slept through the launch since when I turned in they were concerned about weather but I just caught the replay on NASA TV. Also watched a replay on the web but was disappointed they cut the version there off before ET separation. But as good as that was did you happen to watch later on when they showed the ET venting it's residual fuel? I'm not sure how much was real and how much might have been in the video feed but some of that, especially when the sunlight hit it just right was very impressive. Jumping forward a few days, Cal Sky is still calling for Atlantis to cross in front of the Moon as seen from portions of Tooele county Monday evening. patrick

I caught that earlier this morning on NASA tv VERY impressive! Did you catch how the ground controllers were a bit caught up in watching it? They were a bit slow to respond to Atlantis' questions and the Capcom even apologized for it saying they were all watching the "very impressive video of the venting" It was also interesting to note just how much rotation the ET had once they started doing that. Yes. LOL I think (hope?) he was kidding. :) 'Course we have out own version of gigantic venting going on in Utah right now (at the legislature <g>). Regarding the potential Moon crosser, CalSky is no longer predicting a transit for Monday. patrick
