Kurt, Cynthia maintains both the email list and the gallery. You can reach her directly at leviblue@utahdogs.com. She's wonderfully helpful. Best wishes, Joe
Thanks, Joe. That email bounced back, but hopefully she will pick it up off this listserv. - Kurt __________________________________________________ Do You Yahoo!? Tired of spam? Yahoo! Mail has the best spam protection around http://mail.yahoo.com
Kurt, try this one: lucyblue@xmission.com I think she checks it regularly. Do you have some good stuff to share with us? --- Canopus56 <canopus56@yahoo.com> wrote:

I sent Kurt an email. I prefer leviblue@utahdogs.com, it is a valid email. This one is my super duper private no spam email that i don't put anywhere and is just for emergencies. ;) Cynthia Chuck Hards wrote:

Sorry, Cynthia! The lucyblue address is the one you have posted on the Utah-astro FAQ page, so that's why I suggested it to Kurt. I used to have a super-secret no-spam address- until I slipped-up and placed an on-line order from it, for a book or something. That was the end of the "no-spam, super-secret" aspect! ;o) --- Cynthia Blue <leviblue@utahdogs.com> wrote:

Gah! I didn't know that was there. Thanks for letting me know, I've changed it. :) Cyn Chuck Hards wrote:

Is anyone going to Wolf Creek Friday night? The weather forecast is clear both Friday and Saturday. I can only go Friday. At lot of the smoke is gone and at 10,000 feet it should be reasonably good. Clear Skies Don Colton
That sounds really good, Don. I think I'd like to go. Any idea about the bug situation? And should I drag along a heavy coat? Best wishes, Joe
Joe, Don what's this about bugs at 10K ft at Wolf Creek?? We don't have that problem on Haleakala, didn't think critters really liked it cold. aloha Rob
I probably can't make it this weekend, but I've been camping the last few days at Washington Lake (in the Uintas east of Kamas, at approx. the same elevation) and the mosquitoes were thick and agressive, so be sure to pack along the Deet spray! --- Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com> wrote:

I noticed that my cat doesn't know me when I'm wearing DEET. He HATES the stuff! I wonder if dogs can't stand it, either? Another (sneaky) chemical solution: Place a CO2 cylinder under the car of the observer furthest from you in the immediate area, upwind. Slightly open the valve. Walk back to your own telescope. Retrieve cylinder just before you go home. Thanks to Michael Carnes for inspiring this idea! --- Richard Tenney <retenney@yahoo.com> wrote:

I was wearing sunscreen with repellent in it, as well as Off spray with deet, and still got bit a couple of times. I've never seen so many really aggressive bugs. During the day I was pestered by deer flies. Last year about this time I didn't have that problem; don't know what's different this year. The really annoying thing was that they would actually land before deciding I didn't taste/smell good. Apparently cats and dogs have a better sense of smell... Definitely wetter where I was than Wolf Creek, but roughly the same elevation, and probably just a few miles North of there (a guess). Chuck's idea would have been a great trick to play on the inconsiderate bone-heads camped nearby that ran their noisy generator all day one day... ;o) --- Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote:

Hopefully Wolf Creek won't be so bad. I have always had problems near lakes in the Uintas but seldom at Wolf Creek. -----Original Message----- From: utah-astronomy-bounces+djcolton=piol.com@mailman.xmission.com [mailto:utah-astronomy-bounces+djcolton=piol.com@mailman.xmission.com] On Behalf Of Richard Tenney Sent: Thursday, July 20, 2006 2:44 PM To: Utah Astronomy Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Wolf Creek this Weekend I was wearing sunscreen with repellent in it, as well as Off spray with deet, and still got bit a couple of times. Hummm, I am too chicken of mosquitoes to go, I think. Might head off somewhere lower where I won't get bitten. Sorry about the false alarm, but there's only one thing worse than getting chewed up by something you can't see, and that's getting chewed up by something you can! Thanks, Joe
Don't let the mosquitoes stop you. I use Avon (yeah, that's right... Avon!) skin-so-soft, and besided keeping the biters at bay, it leaves my skin silky smooth! ;) Quoting Joe Bauman <bau@desnews.com>:

Joe Bugs usually aren't a problem. But I would come prepared. I have only encountered a bug problem once at Wolf Creek but I haven't been up there this year. It is dryer than most of the Uinta area. I'd been hoping to go, but family issues are going to keep me closer to home. I might be able to get away Sat or Sun for a bit of Gravel Pit if anyone's interested. MC On Jul 20, 2006, at 11:15 AM, Don J. Colton wrote:

So Don, how was it? Did you get bugged? Thanks, Joe
