Most here may know I'm primarily a Mac person. But I do need to use an old Windows machine to run my camera and mount until Software Bisque finishes converting their software to OSX. Under Windows I occasionally (like right now) have a problem in that this message pops up: +++++ Automatic Updates Updating your computer is almost complete. Your computer needs to be restarted for the updates to take effect. Windows will restart your computer automatically in 15:00 minutes. Do you want to restart your computer now? +++++ Is there some way to keep that message from appearing? As it is, once the massage comes up I don't dare leave the computer unattended for more than a few minutes lest it restart itself causing the camera and mount control software to shut down in the middle of a run. Ideas? patrick
you can't get this software to run in a more modern version of Windoze? What's it running in now? If you put Win 7 on your Mac and run it through Parallels or something with Win 7 in compatibility mode maybe? If any of this sounds feasible, I can probably help you out. Between me and my buddy, we know everything - and he's a dumbass. On Mon, Jun 4, 2012 at 5:02 AM, Patrick Wiggins <paw@wirelessbeehive.com>wrote:

It's Windows XP. I could update but everything works fine as it is so I don't want to mess with it. The only things I run on it are the camera and mount control software and as I think I mentioned, Software Bisque is transitioning to OSX and once that transformation is complete my only non-Mac machine will finally receive a long and well deserved retirement. Thanks, patrick
I’ve had that happen, too. What I do is turn off automatic updates in the control panels section under the Start menu. Either go into the “Automatic Updates” or “Security” programs which are listed in the control panels selection. I tell the update program to tell me if there are updates, but not to load them automatically. That way I can choose when to do the update, not when Windoze chooses to do the update which is right when I’m in the middle of something important. It will remind you, again, believe me. I’ve never seen an operating system update so much. Dave On Jun 4, 2012, at 5:02 AM, Patrick Wiggins wrote:

In Windows XP you can get to your Automatic Updates a few ways: 1: Start/Control Panel/System - Select the Automatic Updates tab and do the updates during the day or just download them and do them when you want. (Classic View of Control Panel) 2: Start/right click on My Computer/properties/Automatic Updates tab. 3: Start/Run - Type in: sysdm.cpl, select OK, Automatic Updates tab. Thanks Ken. I went with option 1 and set it to just let me know when something's available but no to do anything else. Fingers crossed that it works. :) patrick On 04 Jun 2012, at 18:53, Ken Warner wrote:
