Hi all. I am also offering my Losmandy G-11 mount with Gemini goto computer. This mount has carried my scopes for every image I have ever posted on this forum or on my website. It is a proven performer, with excellent goto capabilities and computer control through "The Sky" and many other programs. I hesitate to sell this but I am looking lustfully at a new Paramount MX and building a larger imaging scope. It has an upgraded precision worm gear, upgraded clutch knobs, upgraded weight stop, and it has been cleaned and maintained to perform beautifully. The price is $2300 with the heavy wooden tripod. Let me know if you are interested. Thanks, Tyler Allred email: tyler@allred-astro.com
Hi Tyler, If you are thinking Paramount you might want to know about what's coming: http://www.bisque.com/sc/blogs/seeker_blog/archive/2012/09/25/paramount-me-i... Knowing how much nicer my ME is compared to my original Paramount I can only image how nice the ME 2 must be. patrick On 26 Sep 2012, at 16:39, Tyler Allred wrote:

Don't pass this on! I just installed and successfully tested a toggle switch on a street light that is obnoxious, illuminates everywhere but down and illuminates my observation area with a sick Halloween orange light. Score one for higher S/N ratio. It took $3.00 and under 4 minutes of time. When I was a kid, I used a wrist-rocket. Definitely don't do that! When I moved into my current house, there was one obnoxious street light a few yards over, that shone directly on my backyard observing spot. A few years later they re-did the streetlights and that one went away. They didn't use full-cutoff fixtures for the replacements, but shorter poles and it was shifted several yards, which placed it behind a home. No more direct glare, for the past 18 years or so. When I was living in Denver, I had a streetlight directly across from my house. I discovered it had a large photocell on top of it to turn it on an off. A laser pointer duct tape to a camera tripod happened to be able to turn it off. Even had cops come through the neighborhood, and never suspect a thing (The laser pointer was hidden in the hedges). I always wondered if anyone called in a repair, there wasn't anything wrong with it, so the tech would be very confused. A set of rechargeable AAs would get me through the night. No muss, no fuss. I imagine they are the same design here, but I don't have one in the way of my house. Dan -- Sent from my iPhone. Please pardon any mispelings or errors. The only laser I had when I was a kid was an Edmund HeNe borrowed from school. And no photocells on streetlights in those days. But the wrist rocket was fun anyway. On Mon, Oct 1, 2012 at 7:40 AM, Daniel Holmes <danielh@holmesonics.com>wrote:

Fortunately no street lights where I grew up (in a suburb of San Diego), but many a neighbor probably needlessly replaced a porch light that had been partially unscrewed from time to time... :) /R ________________________________ From: Chuck Hards <chuck.hards@gmail.com> To: Utah Astronomy <utah-astronomy@mailman.xmission.com> Sent: Monday, October 1, 2012 7:45 AM Subject: Re: [Utah-astronomy] Light Pollution Terrorism in Sandy The only laser I had when I was a kid was an Edmund HeNe borrowed from school. I just had Sandy City come out and install a block of some kind on the street light in my front yard, and the one in the neighbor's yard. It doesn't block 100% of the light, but it does prevent direct light from landing on my house (or my scope when it is in the driveway). Not as good as turning it off, but an improvement, nonetheless. They came and did the work within 2 days of me requesting it, at no charge. I also requested some kind of cutoff fixture so the light isn't scattered upward. That doesn't appear to be part of the block that was installed, so I may ask them to come back. I thought about the switch but was sure I would kill myself trying. I have a similar street light in cul de sac. Could you forward me the contact with Sandy City that answered your request?
