Barney's question was timely. Rob Ratkowski and I have been tossing around ideas for a utah-astronomy charity auction, proceeds to go to a recognized tsunami relief organization. Cynthia has already given her permission to use the forum for this purpose (thanks again, Cyn!). Unfortunately I lack the skills to pull this off properly and we could use some help, both technical and otherwise. I'm starting school soon and will have very little email time after Feb. 10th, for about four months. We would like to solicit donated items from list members, maybe auction them off individually or in lots, whatever makes the most sense. I'd like to see donors send off the items to the winners themselves, and donate the shipping charges to the cause. I'm hoping folks will see this as more of an opportunity to express some compassion rather than strictly a chance to pick up a bargain, but you never know, maybe both motivations can be served. The donation phase should be fast, so the actual auctions could be held and the proceeds donated to a charity quickly; there is a great, immediate need. Comments? Suggestions? Volunteers? Thanks everybody, this list has some fine people on it. __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - You care about security. So do we. http://promotions.yahoo.com/new_mail
I missed the swap meet. By the time I got home from work it was 7:30. I was dissapointed but I bagged it anyway because it would have been 8:30 before I could have gotten there. There would not have been enough time to spend all my money. Yeah, right! I heard that someone had a bino-viewer. I don't know if it sold or not, but I would be interested in one.
