Computer monitor opinions
Santa upgraded the Hards house to digital HDTV this year, so now just about every CRT display looks like a dung pile, including this computer monitor. The 32" plasma HDTV I mounted on the wall in the bedroom has a connector for using it as a computer input, so now I'm looking for a bigger screen for this box. I want at least a 22" screen; will entertain thoughts of up to a 32", and LCD instead of plasma, to avoid "burn" from toolbars, shortcuts, and such. I also don't want to pay a lot (it will NOT be a $2,000 high-tech Dell monitor approved by NASA for zero-g use) and with retailers and etailers discounting heavily right now, there must be some excellent prospects out there. A dedicated monitor would be cheaper but an LCD TV with computer port at the right price isn't a problem. To keep it on-topic somewhat, obviously my planetarium program would appear MUCH better visually, and I could read list postings easier, not to mention how much better astro-images and space-probe images will appear... *;o)* Anybody have any ideas/advice/leads?

NewEgg is my favorite place to shop for computer hardware. Shipping is usually very fast. We got one of these Acer 22" LCDs from NewEgg and have been pleased with it so far. Hope that helps. If you figure out the specs you need, you can then use this place to keep an eye out for the best deals, as they come out. I have been using it for years, and it saves a lot of time looking through ads. They really shine at getting the best deals on tech-stuff. http://dealnews.com/ Quoting Dan Hanks <danhanks@gmail.com>:

Thanks Dan & Jo, you've given me many things to look at! As far as size goes, I have decided on a 24" screen. Let me tell you that 24" is huge when you are only sitting two or three feet away from it! Anything larger is just too large for my current computer desk. I'm probably going to build a special shelf for my printer anyway, just to get it away from the immediate keyboard/monitor workspace and free-up some desktop real-estate for the big monitor. I'll be making my decision as to brand in the next week or so, then shop for the best price.
