I didn’t even know those existed, the whole idea sounds rather dumb if you ask me, I can picture someone using that with a cheap plastic telescope, that beam of light would melt through it before they can even point to the sun!

I'm amazed these are still sold with telescopes. Where's Ralph Nader when you need him? I had one of these explode on me as a young boy in the '60's. Fortunately I heard stress cracks in the glass just before it broke, and got my eye away just in time.
