Re: When lasers are outlawed, etc...
Brent, I was told some years ago that landing light bulbs tended to be on the pricey side and that also figured into why pilots try and minimize their use, at least for privately-owned aircraft. Any truth in that? __________________________________ Do you Yahoo!? Yahoo! Mail - 250MB free storage. Do more. Manage less. http://info.mail.yahoo.com/mail_250
Landing lights are a little bit pricey. For my Cessna 172 they are about $22 each. I however don't let that stop me from using them on takeoffs and landings, even in the daytime. I keep the landing light on usually until I'm several miles from the airport. It's a safety issue. I want other pilots to know exactly where I'm at when they are in my vicinity. Landings can be done without using landing lights, and pilots do practice that, because lights can burn out in flight and you still have to land, but at night I would prefer to have them working. I change bulbs maybe 1 or 2 times a year. Ken

Mine are really not very expensive. They are also available at many auto part stores. They run under $10 each, and last many years. I have only changed one or two in the last eight years. I have two on my plane. It really is more trying to preserve the other pilot's vision. Brent --- Chuck Hards <chuckhards@yahoo.com> wrote:
