Re: [Utah-astronomy] Saturday Night Observing
I enjoy leaving as early in the afternoon as I can in order to arrive well before sunset. It gives me a chance to enjoy a camp-stove dinner, and take in the desert solitude and the peaceful feel of the Wedge area. How early can you leave? Anyway, I would really like to go to the "new site." I'm flexible, though, if everyone else wants to stay at the traditional site. Some people like the idea of the somewhat higher altitude. The "new" site, however, has the benefit of being a few miles south and the additional southern latitude is definitely a plus in my book. Mike Bailey
The San Rafael Swell and Reef are wonderful for camping and hiking. The only question I have about the new site is that it's down from the Wedge, and possibly would have a greater likelihood of blowing dust. Who is going on Friday? I think I probably will, weather permitting. Thanks, Joe
