Re: [Utah-astronomy] Latest GLobal Temperature Data
Hi Chuck, I suppose, first of all, that one has to believe in God, or have faith in God. Even if one does, faith and religion are not science. Jon
One doesn't *have *to believe in God, but one can choose to, without diminishing or mis-using science. One can assume that God exists outside of the reference framework of science. Or perhaps one can't, it's up to the individual to come to such conclusions as they are capable of. Just use the proper tools for the job. It is assumed that the physical universe operates according to natural laws. Science is a tool for understanding the nature of the physical universe. God does not operate according to the same natural laws that the universe in which man finds himself operates under. Science cannot be used to describe the nature of God or faith. Likewise, faith cannot be used to describe the nature of the physical universe. Faith is belief without proof; science requires proof. If you take the position that science cannot describe God, therefore God cannot exist, then we have nothing to discuss. I am of the opinion that God exists unfettered by the framework of science and the physical universe. We exist as part of the physical universe and are bound by it's laws. This position does not discount the notion of a higher being behind it all, but neither does it invalidate classical evolution, or any other scientific explanation for anything. Can I prove evolution with science? Yes, given some professional help and the right tools. Can I prove the existence of God? Not with science, but that's not what science is for. Thanks for your time. On Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 10:53 AM, <stormcrow60@xmission.com> wrote:

Thanks, Howard, but it's still very possible that I'm completely full of ...poop. But with this concept, I can at least get to sleep at night. On Tue, Mar 10, 2009 at 11:48 AM, Howard Jackman <sumoetx@yahoo.com> wrote:
